The Mercy of God

God wants to be loved not feared. Its enough for him that we don’t want to sin; that we confess rather than despair. Here are some biblical quotes about the mercy of God.

“Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. ” – John 3:17

But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.” – Matthew 14:27

“Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father” – John 5:45

Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, sir.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not sin again.” – John 8:10-11

“Return, says the Lord. I will not be angry with you; For I am merciful, I will not continue my wrath forever. Return, rebellious children, says the Lord.” – Jeremiah 3:12, 14a

“But you are merciful to all, for you can do all things and you overlook people’s sins, so that they may repent. For you love all things that exist and detest none of the things that you have made.” – Wisdom 11:23-24

“God is love.” – 1 John 4:16

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” – Luke 12:32

John Leary

This is the main thing I want to promote on this web site. John Leary has been receiving daily messages from Jesus for over 20 years. He’s a layperson from Rochester, New York and he started receiving messages in 1993 after he went on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. Every message is approved by his spiritual director and in 20 years he hasn’t said anything heretical yet. Maria Esperanza whose apparitions of the Blessed Mother in Betania, Venezuela are Church approved said he is an authentic prophet.

Jesus talks about the signs of the times, current events and spirituality. I think it’s some of the best spiritual reading there is.

You can read the messages at

He travels the country giving talks but also has videos available outlining his message which you can see here.

Divine Mercy

Divine Mercy Rainbow

This double rainbow appeared on the feast of Divine Mercy 2012 at a Divine Mercy shrine in the Philippines. The statue is 50 feet tall and the rays are staircases into the heart where the is a chapel with Eucharistic adoration.

Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska is a Catholic mystic, prophetess and nun who lived in Poland between 1905 and 1938. God’s mission for her was that she was to proclaim the messages and visions she received from God to the whole world. The messages are all about God’s mercy. He is calling souls to trust in Him. The two necessary miracles required for her canonization were met. Both were miraculous healings. You can read about them here:

Her diary has sold over 800,000 copies worldwide. She is one of the greatest saints of the Catholic Church. These are some of the messages from her diary.

“In the Old Covenant I sent prophets wielding thunderbolts to My people. Today I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world. I do not wish to punish aching mankind but I desire to heal it, pressing it close to my merciful heart. My hand is reluctant to take the sword of justice. Before I come as a just judge I am coming as the merciful savior.” (Diary 1588)

Jesus told Saint Faustina in the diary “Let no sinner be afraid to approach me.” He said of those who trust in the mercy of God, “I shall protect them Myself at the hour of death, as My own glory. And even if the sins of the soul are as dark as night, when the sinner turns to My mercy, he renders Me the greatest praise, and becomes the glory of My Passion. When a soul praises My goodness, Satan trembles before it and flees to the very bottom of hell” (Diary, 378).

Saint Faustina

The Pierced Heart of Jesus

John 19:34, “but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out. ”

Saint Catherine of Sienna was a mystic. She could talk to Jesus. She once asked,

“Sweet, Spotless, Lamb, You were dead when Your side was opened. Why, then, did You allow that Your Heart should thus be wounded and opened by force?”

Jesus answered,

“For several reasons, of which I will tell you the principal. My desires regarding the human race were infinite and the actual time of suffering and torture was at an end. Since my love is infinite, I could not therefore by this suffering manifest to you how much I loved you. That is why I willed to reveal to you the secret of my Heart by letting you see It open, that you might well understand that It loved you far more than I could prove to you by a suffering that was over.”

Maria Valtorta

Maria Valtorta

Aside from the sum of the Holy Spirit’s work in the Catholic Church itself there is no greater sign on earth of God’s truth than the work of mystic, Maria Valtorta.

Maria Valtorta was a third order Franciscan from Italy who was gifted to receive many enlightening revelations for the benefit of the Church through interior locution and mystical vision. Born in 1897, she was confined to her bed from 1933 to her death in 1961. This is where she wrote 15,000 pages of mystical revelation in ordinary school notebooks. She wrote over a dozen books, but the greatest of all is The Gospel as Revealed to Me, written between 1943-1947. This book is a compilation of 647 visions which depict the events leading up to Christ’s life, his birth, his ministry on earth, his Passion, his glorification in heaven and even some of the acts of the apostles.

Her spiritual director and family attest she had only the Bible and the Catechism in her room and yet in only three and a half years she wrote the most staggering literary work ever, a five-thousand page revelation of God’s work on earth in person. In this book we see the words and actions of Jesus Christ and his apostles, his Mother, his friends and enemies and also reflections given from the heavenly throne teaching us with profound depth the secrets of theology, philosophy and psychology.

This book was written in one draft. There were no revisions. It was not written chronologically. 166 of the 647 chapters were written out of order. Jesus told her in which place each would go and when the work came together at its completion it had perfect flow. She recorded these 647 visions in notebooks on her lap in bed. At the end, she had completed a fifth gospel.

There is no way she could have known everything to write this book. She has Jesus traveling over 4,000 miles in six different cycles across Palestine. There are over 500 characters. The people are never in a place inconsistent with the four gospels or with the ability for the people to get to each place in the amount of time it says they got there. All of her descriptions of the terrain are correct. Her work stands scrutiny.

This kind of knowledge of Israel at the time of Christ is something that many advanced scholars would have to collaborate on with many reference books to compile. Let alone to use it as a setting for a story written out of order, in one draft of such incomparable quality. This adventure of Christ spans over 350 geographic locations in the Holy Land. Nine of the places she described were not discovered until after her death. Sixty-two places were either unknown or obscure.

But what is truly compelling is Christ’s interaction with the thousands of hearts and minds he encounters. In this gospel, the love of Christ’s Sacred Heart given to man is revealed as never before. Throughout the gospel, our Lord acts as a model of perfection and reaches out to men and women with every vice and affliction in such an inexpressible way, with words and actions that so completely penetrate hearts, garnering for himself souls set afire for his love. He presents to thirsting souls, the hopeless and the oppressed the river of water with no end in such an infinite and divine way and yet in the human form. Such is the wisdom and profundity of God in this work. It is truly made known, the perfection of his love, by the humility he showed in his patient, persistent work to convert souls. This is the account of God made man on earth.

Compelling research was done by Purdue University physicist Dr. Lonnie VanZandt and was published in an article called “Astronomical dating of the Poem of the Man-God”. In episode 356, titled “The Night at Gadara” Maria Valtorta looked at the sky and documented which celestial bodies she could see. Because of the irregularity of their orbits the only time those planets were visible from that place was in March 31 and 33. VanZandt said that calculating the joint observability of these stars would have required a computer system.

“The Night at Gadara” (page 459, volume 3), written on December 11, 1945, Maria Valtorta wrote:

“The magnificent stars of a clear night in the month of March are shining in the eastern sky…. It is a very tall house, situated in one of the highest parts of the town, so that the infinite horizon spreads out…. as the moon is waning, the sky is glistening with countless stars…. with its springtime constellations and the magnificent stars of Orion: of Rigel and Betelgeuse, of Aldebaran, of Perseus, Andromeda and Cassiopeia and the Pleiades united like sisters. And Sapphirine Venus covered with diamonds, and Mars of pale ruby and the topaz of Jupiter…”

Because of the Gospel as Revealed to Me, many discrepancies between the gospels have been resolved. For instance in Luke 17:11 it says that Jesus went north to Samaria and Galilee on his way to Jerusalem which is in the south. People were always baffled by this verse but in the Gospel as Revealed to Me we see that Jesus spent four and a half months ministering to the Samarians and Galileans at this time.

Saint Pio recommended Maria Valtorta’s work to those to whom he gave spiritual direction. After Pope Pius XII had the book for a year, he gave permission for it to be distributed. Here is a 1,000 page analysis of all the nuances of Valtorta’s work as well as the article I mentioned by Dr. VanZandt.

The book is available to read for free online or to purchase in print at

Jesus says this book a gift to help us through the end times. This gospel is the fulfillment of Revelation 14:6.

“Then I saw another angel flying in midheaven, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation and tribe and language and people. “

Our Lady of Garabandal

In Garabandal, Spain in 1961 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to four girls. She told them that humanity was offending God and that a great chastisement would come to the world. First though, She said there would be a warning called the illumination of conscience. The Blessed Mother explained the warning to Father Stefano Gobbi saying,

“What will come to pass is something so very great that it will exceed anything that has taken place since the beginning of the world. It will be like a judgement in miniature, and each one will see his own life and all he has done in the very light of God.” (Locution 478)

The Blessed Mother said to Father Gobbi that the warning is the fulfillment of Revelation 14:9, the third of the thee announcements of the archangels. During the apparitions the children levitated and eyewitnesses testify on video that they put their hands under their feet. A doctor examined them in ecstasy by slapping their legs with sticks but they made no response. The children followed the Blessed Mother through the mountains without looking at their feet, even walking up rocky paths backwards. Conchita Gonzalez received communion from Saint Michael the Archangel on video. If you examine the video frame by frame you can see the Eucharistic host appear on her tongue seemingly out of thin air.

Conchita got spiritual direction from Saint Pio who believed in the authenticity of the apparitions. Now she lives in Queens and leads a weekly prayer group. The Blessed Mother gave a message to Father Stefano Gobbi in Garbandal June 14, 1979 on the Feast of Corpus Christi.

Focus video made a full length documentary about the events.

Our Lady of Akita

The Blessed Mother gave three messages to Sister Sasagawa of the Handmaidens of the Holy Eucharist, a Japanese nun, in 1973. She warned that God the Father is offended by the sins of the world and is preparing a great chastisement. She said it would be the greatest one ever, even worse than the deluge. A great portion of humanity would be killed by fire from heaven. That is consistent with John Leary’s message of 2/3 of humanity dying by the comet of chastisement. She said the demon would press many priests to leave the Lord’s service. Since Vatican II, over 100,000 priests have quit. Over almost a decade, Her statue cried 101 times. She said She was crying because of the thought of so many souls being lost… She asked the sisters to pray and make reparation for sinners. The crying statue was video taped, investigated and approved by the Church.

In this message the Blessed Mother says that if sins increase in gravity and number that there will no longer be pardon for them. She is speaking of pardon from temporal punishment. That is, the punishment of the chastisement to hit the earth. God’s merciful love is infinite and His Sacred Heart is burning with the desire to grant to souls forgiveness and receive prodgigal sons. The feast He throws are the great graces of joy and peace that come from the sacraments of confession and communion.

Saint Pio

Saint Pio

Saint Pio was a Franciscan monk from Pietrelcina, Italy who lived from 1887 to 1968. He was best known for his stigmata. He bore the wounds of Christ for fifty years on his hands and feet so he often wore fingerless gloves. He also bled from his side, where Christ was pierced by a sword. Many of his bloody cloths are kept as relics and are publicly available for veneration. He had a deep love for God expressed especially by reflection on His passion. In prayer, Saint Pio would share in the sufferings of Christ supernaturally. He was such an effective priest in saving souls that the devil hated him and demons would beat him up in his cell. His memoirs and regular correspondence with his spiritual director are preserved. He lived in a friary with other Franciscans who keep many stories about his supernatural gifts. For instance, once a friar stepped out outside and saw Saint Pio deep in conversation but nobody was visible. The friar interrupted and Saint Pio told him to leave him alone because he was discussing things with angels. In special instances, he would communicate to people by sending messages through their guardian angels. He also had the ability to be in two places at once. He’s well known for his good spiritual direction in his capacity as a confessor. In some instances, God would guide his soul to see something hidden in another person to bring it out and correct it. This gift is special for saintly confessors and it is called “reading souls”. He is also well known for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and his constant prayer of the rosary. Every day, all day he was immersed in praying it. He would often do 35 in a single day. He was known to cry during mass and he emphasized the sacrificial nature of the liturgy. He was also known for his incredible wonder and respect for the Holy Eucharist. There are many pictures of him staring at the Lord’s Eucharistic presence with awe. The memoirs of many of the friars he lived with recall that he was a kind and loving man who drank beer at dinner. He loved his brothers greatly. He also got perfect grades in seminary and graduated at the top of his class. When he was only seven years old he would stay up all night praying on his knees from the heart. No less incredible has been Saint Pio’s work from beyond the grave. Many providential acts of God are attributed to his intercession and he is beloved by many of the Catholic faithful for his spiritual friendship and patronage.

He also had a great love for sinners and often prayed for God’s mercy on them. He was quoted saying “I will not enter into heaven until all my brothers go before me.”

The Shroud of Turin

Shroud-of-Turin-negative-imageThe Shroud of Turin is the burial cloth of Jesus. The image of Christ was not imprinted by ink but by His blood and high levels of radiation which came from His resurrection. On this shroud we can see wounds from a crown of thorns, scourging, crucifixion and Christ’s pierced side (John 19:34).

Science Tests Faith

This video, Science Tests Faith, explains some incredible phenomena. First, Nancy Fowler, the visionary of Conyers, Georgia prayed for a spiritual sister. Katya Rivas came from Bolivia to Conyers and stayed with Nancy while she had a vision of Jesus. Katya then bought a statue of Jesus for her sister. The statue began to bleed because it is Christ depicted during His passion. The statue and the blood were analyzed and the phenomena was found to be miraculous. Similarities are drawn to a Eucharistic miracle in Argentina, where the Sacred Host turned into blood and flesh from the heart of a man. Also considered was a Eucharistic miracle in Lanciano, Italy where the Sacred Host and Precious Blood turned into physical flesh and blood. In all three miracles, the blood had a higher white blood cell count than usual, which shows that tissue from which the blood flowed was trying to heal from undergoing a beating. Also, although the blood was proven to be human, it has no personal profile because it is of divine origin, not human. The video also looks at the locutions and stigmata of Katya Rivas who became the spiritual sister Nancy Fowler prayed for. She receives locutions in four languages and records them faster than any of us could think of them. She couldn’t have made them up because she doesn’t speak those other languages. She doesn’t have a high school education. Reporters came to investigate her stigmata and the Lord gave them a message to “Come back on the Feast of My Body”. On the feast of Corpus Christi, Katya experienced many of the symptoms of crucifixion. Pierced hands and feet and asphyxiation. It was all recorded on camera with medical professionals in a hospital recording all the data. The next day her wounds were perfectly healed and she was back to normal.

The Science Tests Faith DVD and the messages of Katya Rivas are available at

I hope this video gives you a strong faith in Christ’s Eucharistic presence.
